System Validation and QA Manager
Job Summary
The System Validation and QA manager will be directly responsible for ensuring robust testing and quality assurance of Gigle’s communication systems with specific reference to QA of the embedded software.
This role will involve managing a small team to create suitable test environments, test plans and managing the timely execution of validation suites, reporting of issues and creation of detailed test reports suitable to share with our customers
Primary duties and responsibilities
The successful candidate will manage a small team of engineers to create and automate the test database to validate current and future communication systems according to the needs and quality requirements of our customers. The responsibilities will include:
- Working with engineering (software, hardware), other departments and relevant customer inputs to create test processes, test specifications, test cases for sanity, integration, regression, alpha, beta and production testing.
- Testing of firmware and involvement in the test planning, and executing tests of firmware for embedded processors.
- Reporting and tracking bugs, assisting in debugging problems.
- Executing performance and stress tests.
- Writing and maintaining test plans, updating tests and creating high quality test reports. The ideal candidate should possess significant experience of automated software testing as well as detailed knowledge of network protocols and associated test equipment. This will include network traffic generators and analyzers such as SmartBits or Chariot. The position will be held in Barcelona
Qualifications and Experience
The following skills and experiences are required:
- Experience of managing a small engineering team to deliver on time, high quality outcomes.
- Experience with setting up and extending automated test suites.
- An understanding of testing, software release engineering, build management including source control, bug tracking, and system level testing for product release to customer.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in software, systems and integration testing of hardware and software preferably for networking company.
- Hands-on experience with network equipment testing: devices, applications or networks.
- Knowledge of digital electronics is desired.
- Experience with Linux / Unix systems.
- Experience in C/C++ programming.
- Automation skills in Perl, Python or other scripting languages
- Ability to work effectively across groups of diverse disciplines
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
The following skills are an asset:
- Experience with different wired/wireless technologies, standards and network protocols including HomePlugAV, Ethernet, TCP/IP, WiFi (802.11) networks and routing protocols is a plus.
- Experience working with packet sniffers, and protocol analyzers is a plus.
- Experience using oscilloscopes and embedded processors is a plus.
- Execute equally well working in a team or individually without direction and supervision
