Gigle is committed to the establishment and maintenance of open standards in home multimedia communications. We are working actively with industry bodies and standards groups to promote agreement and early adoption of standards.

We are dedicated to early adoption of standards with participation in the leading industry organizations:

  • Gigle Networks is a Board member of the HomePlug Powerline Alliance, a Promoter member of the HomeGrid Forum, a member of the Home Gateway Initiative, and a member of the Broadband Forum.
  • Gigle Networks is an active member of the IEEE P1901 powerline communications standards initiative, and the ITU-T SG15 G.hn initative to develop an anywire communications standard.

HomePlug Powerline Alliance

Gigle Semiconductor is a Board member of the HomePlug Powerline Alliance. The Alliance's mission is to enable and promote rapid availability, adoption and implementation of cost effective, interoperable and standards-based home powerline networks and products. HomePlug is an industry alliance comprised of industry leaders at each level of the value chain - from technology to services & content. The Alliance members bring necessary capabilities and a financial commitment to the successful launch of the technology.

Home Grid Forum

HomeGrid Forum

Gigle Semiconductor is a Contributor member of the HomeGrid Forum. HomeGrid Forum is a global, non-profit trade group promoting the International Telecommunication Union's G.hn standardization efforts for next-generation home networking. HomeGrid promotes adoption of G.hn through technical and marketing efforts, addresses certification and interoperability of G.hn-compliant products, and cooperates with complementary industry alliances.

HGI

Home Gateway Initiative

Gigle Semiconductor is a member of the Home Gateway Initiative (HGI). HGI is an open forum launched by telcos in December 2004 with the aim to release specifications of the home gateway. In addition to Telcos, several manufacturers have joined the alliance. HGI was formed to boost the market of home communication services to the millions of broadband customers served by its founding members. The initiative will drive the development of residential gateways supporting the delivery of services.

ITU

ITU

Gigle Semiconductor is an active member of International Telecommunications Union Telecommunications Standardization Sector (ITU-T) Study Group 15 G.hn initiative to develop a standard for home multimedia communications over any wire. G.hn aims to deliver a unified networking standard that supports all of the major media found in the typical home: powerlines, phone lines and coaxial cable. As a result, service providers will be able to offer faster and more capable services on a more timely and efficient basis.

IEEE

IEEE

Gigle Semiconductor is a participating entity in the IEEE P1901 group. The purpose of this group is to define a standard which will focus on the balanced and efficient use of the power line communications channel by all classes of broadband-over-powerline (BPL) devices, defining detailed mechanisms for coexistence and interoperability between different BPL devices, and ensuring that desired bandwidth and quality of service may be delivered. The standard will address the necessary security questions to ensure the privacy.

Broadband Forum

Broadband Forum

Gigle Semiconductor is a member of the Broadband Forum is the central organization driving broadband wireline solutions and empowering converged packet networks worldwide to better meet the needs of vendors, service providers and their customers. Our mission is to develop multi-service broadband packet networking specifications addressing inter-operability, architecture and management. Our work enables home, business and converged broadband services, encompassing customer, access and backbone networks.
